Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH) serves as the core pediatric teaching site for Harvard Medical School (HMS) students, hosting educational experiences in all phases of the curriculum (pre-clerkship, clerkship, and post-clerkship). The majority of HMS students complete their core pediatric clerkship at BCH, which is a 6-week rotation involving time with the Pediatric Hospital Medicine teams, primary care clinics, newborn nurseries at affiliated PCE sites, and selective experiences with inpatient specialty teams or the Emergency Department. Of note, this core clerkship experience is ONLY available to enrolled HMS students assigned to BCH for their clerkship.
BCH also hosts the 3-week inpatient portion of the core pediatric clerkship for a subset of students enrolled at the Tufts University School of Medicine and some select sub-internship and advanced elective experiences in the post-clerkship phase. Additionally, BCH hosts select advanced elective experiences for students enrolled at the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine.
Visiting students outside of these institutions may apply for advanced elective experiences at BCH through VSLO program. We do not host official rotations outside of this system, and we do not host observerships for medical students.
